"Let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest-time, if we will not give up." Galatians 6:9

Baptist-Muslim Dialogue

ABSW held our second Baptist-Muslim Dialogue

 featuring leaders from our neighboring

Muslim communities of education

here in Berkeley with whom we partner:

  • Munir Jiwa, Ph.D., Director and Associate Professor, Center for Islamic Studies, Graduate Theological Union
  • Dr. Mahan Mirza, Dean of Faculty, Zaytuna College
  • Colleen Keyes, VP of Academic and Students Affairs, Zaytuna College (to be confirmed)

The evening was created as an opportunity for ABSW friends and family to become acquainted with the leaders of the GTU Islamic Center and Zaytuna College. Dr. Munir Jiwa, Dr. Mahan Mirza, and Dr. Colleen Keyes spent the first hour of the evening presenting the vision(s) and mission(s) of their representative institutions. These presentations were followed by a time of dialogue between the three panelists and the audience. The evening was dynamic.  Jiwa, Mirza, and Keyes addressed tough questions related to Christian-Muslim relations with caring, compassionate, and intellectually sophisticated responses. We are fortunate to have such high caliber colleagues in our community.

Plans are already under way for next year’s dialogue.

Sponsored by the American Baptist Seminary of the West with A. Roy Medley, General Secretary of the American Baptist Churches USA.
