The board of trustees, administration, faculty, staff, students, alums and friends of ABSW express deep gratitude for Rev. Carolyn's thirteen and a half years of service to the American Baptist Seminary of the West. Carolyn has served faithfully alongside leaders in the offices of finance, institutional advancement, two presidents, and the board of trustees. She provides expert clerical and logistical assistance, research and counsel (especially on anything to do with Star Trek), historical perspective, and always, always, a song! Her master's thesis connecting the "message of the negro spirituals" to theologian Jurgen Moltmann's "theology of hope," available at the ABSW/GTU library, speaks of Carolyn's passion for the rich resources of song, born in the crucible of slavery, to provide needed hope and resilience for just such times as these. Rev. Carolyn has recently joined the pastoral team of Lakeshore Avenue Baptist Church part-time, a wonderful transition, as she retires from full-time ministry at ABSW. We wish Carolyn the best as she enters this new stage of living. We entrust her into God's loving embrace. Keep singing, Carolyn! "Sing because you're happy, sing because you're free, for God's eye is on the sparrow and we know he watches thee!"
